The massive build up of energy in Sydney had not gone unnoticed by Artemis who had flown briefly overhead to investigate the disturbance. Kaiju from all over where gathering there and soon Artemis realized that conflict would inevitable break out, conflict he wanted no part in if he could help it. Unfortuantely fate had other plans for the cossowary mutant and a temporal rift suddenly tore up and sucked the hapless kaiju into its churning vortex, sending the avain screeching through a worm tunnel. Upon exitting the hole, Artemis quickly regained his bearings and hovered for a moment. He seemed to be in the same general area as the sea air was still quite thick and humid here. He couldn't really understand but his instincts told him he was somewhere else entirely. Artemis scanned the area and tried to feel for nuclear energy, it was there in abundance in quite a few places, though it seems that something else was draining it several leagues north of where Artemis hovered. Artemis didn't need to refoul himself just yet and decided to find a place to roost in the mean time. Checking the air he soared toward the smell and sound of other birds, instinctively heading toward the closest landmass.

The closest landmass just happened to be a rather large volcanic region dotted with tropical forests and towering cliffs. Tiny towers and barriers dotted and seperated the island as Artemis explored the place. He could see various other kaiju on the island, some of them in the open and others slipping back into their lairs. His massive black shadow soared over a spiked carapace that shook slightly. A snort soon followed as Anguirus looked upward to see what had interupted his nap. Expecting Rodan, Anguirus was surprised to see a new, much more feathered kaiju circling the area. Anguirus immediately became wary, something wasn't right about it, it felt unnatural, like it didn't quite belong here. Anguirus took a deep breath and bellowed a challenge to the soaring feathered creature in the sky. Artemis heard the surprisingly loud call and saw the spiked and armored Anguirus glaring at him. Artemis really didn't feel like getting into a tussel at the moment and simply circled toward the other end of the island.

Annoyed by the giant bird's decision to ignore him, Anguirus threw himself at the barrier, Kumonga hissing nearby as she feared that the beligerent beast was coming after her again. Anguirus literally had bigger things to worry about and eventually smashed through the electrical barrier, causing alarms to sound all over the island. Artemis was perplexed at the sound as he managed to land on a rocky outcropping near a stream. Just as he dipped his head to take a sip, a ball of spikes can hurtling toward him. He narrowly avoiding getting ground into hamburger as he leaped back into the air; just in time to see Anguirus plow through his perch like it was made of antique china. Anguirus unrolled himself and again bellowed his challenge at the giant avain. Godzilla was gone from the island and couldn't deal with this intruder properly. Anguirus was duty bound to do it in his stead. Artemis squawked in annoyance and flew even further inland, hoping to lose the stubborn creature.

Much to Artemis's surprise, Anguirus charged along the ground after him, hurtling through barriers and even Kamacuras as he chased the giant black avain toward the volcano. Artemis was starting to get extremely angry and his paitence had finally run out as he flew into a rocky gorge, Anguirus stampedeing close behind. Anguirus took a defensive postion, aligning his side and his deadly mace like tail with the seemingly cowardly adversary and once more bellowed his challenge at the creature. Third time was apparently the charm because Artemis answered with an earth shattering screech. The old cassowary instincts taking hold, Artemis descended upon the grizzled ankylosaur like kaiju, the beat from his mighty wings blasting debris and dust away from the two of them in waves. Anguirus honked in slight surprise at the creature's sudden change in behavior but held his ground and perpared to swing as the black feathered titan dropped down; talons spread wide....

's Kaiju Artemis facing down the surly and tenacious Anguirus Neo from ~KaijuSamurai's Godzilla Neo series. This is the second place prize for my 'What Giant Monster are You?' Contest. Artemis is a pretty simple creature, based on the cassowary bird which is a relative of the emu and is the most dangerous bird in the world. Being based on this bird makes Artemis quite the badass and an interesting kaiju. Here we have how imagine a fight between Anguirus and Artemis would start out, Artemis fed up with being hounded by the territorial rottwieler of a kaiju and flapping down to deal with the tenacious armored dinosaur. This scene allowed to finally get an full visualization of wing layout, rounded perspective, and wind effects. This pic has no shading so its prime for coloring should I or anyone else ever feel like it. Congrats Jazon19 on being the runner up .
