Lunami Origins, Wood Panel Scroll

Description

Researchers note: The item recovered from the Ainu ruins turned out to be an old wood panel scroll, such as the kind often used to catalog medicines or other significant cultural nuances. However, the locals were adamant that these particular ruins were not of their people, but of an older race that had lived there long before them. Perhaps the scroll belonged to the 'Koro-bokguru' but the scrolls show a use of color more in line with Yamato-E era paintings as opposed to the carving. The scroll was weathered and stained badly, making restoration nearly impossible. While it had been remarkably preserved considering it's age, locked in a stone box for what must have been at least four thousand years, anything resembling text or script was heavily blotched and stained beyond comprehension. Said stains when analyzed were revealed to be a combination of dirt, ink and toward the last panel blood. The blood was found to be human but little else in terms of identifying its source. This leads me to believe that this scroll contained information that either was valuable or condemned or both and thus fought over. The contents of the scroll seem to depict a supernatural narrative following the life of what I can only imagine is so kind of owl like deity. It is hard to decide if the circular symbol is a moon, a sun or both as it contains a common allegory with both though it changes on each panel. There are similarities  between the last panel and a cave painting found the Pacific Northwest of the United States. There is a lot more to this scroll panel however which means the event I deciphered earlier may be more complicated than I first thought. The strange black feline like creature in particular is a new addition. The locals want nothing to do with it, saying that such matters are concerns of the spirits and that disturbing them only brings calamity. While I respect their concerns, I must learn more and see if this has any further connections.

I have to say, I love old carvings like this, it's a great why to influence things without giving away anything and everything at the same time.
