So this didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to. Kiryu is just too damn complex to draw with my style of of SD. To be honest, I don't think the epicness of this joke could have been shown in SD anyway. I mean shit, I just did a comic 2 page spread for the first time in my life, introduced Leeroy Jenkins to the Godzilla universe, drew the Blackhand Doomsaw, royally lampooned 'Godzilla against Mechagodzilla', and had Godzilla smoking a pipe. Adding the SD element would have probably made this thing spontainously combust. One day, I may draw Kiryu in SD form. But for now, this will be his contribution to the series.
After thinking about it for awhile I decided to keep the Hybrid style head anyway. Why? Because its the one part of this design thats mine thats why. Everyone said the Neo was perfect and really shouldn't be tampered with. That head though...the longer I looked at it and the more I drew it, the more I came to realize that that head was rather boring. Yeah it doesn't have the duck-bill-dragon-snout that the Millenium did and looks like Godzilla's skull could actually fit in that metal shell. But it's a square. A mostly flat, blocky square. It's horn crest and ear-wing-antenna were subdued and barely existant. I like to mix old with new so my head is large, solid, angled and has a big horn and antenna ears. Besides, I gave him a large thermo nuclear cannon and chainsaw teeth. Style AND substance. Whatever, thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
For those scant few who have never delved into the World of Warcraft, this may leave you scratching your heads. So I invite you all to watch this:

During the planning stages of this little drawing I had an interesting conversation about what kind of weapons Kiryu should have. Gregole reccomended an 'axe'. Well Gregole, there's your axe and it comes complete with a shiny pala-*cough* Mechagodzilla to swing it around. In the end it doesn't really matter, because tommorrow I'm getting chicken.
