Shimaku: The Death Coil
Life has existed for countless millennia and in that countless millennia, billions of life forms have spawned, evolved, and become extinct. However, every so once in awhile, a life form defies the natural law and proceeds to claim more and more for itself, at the expense of every other living being. These life forms, if left unchecked, quickly proceed to devour all available resources and gain a tyrannical monopoly on existence itself. The planet Earth has had several instances where such creatures have emerged, and every time such a life form grew to power, it taxed the Earth to its limits. The Earth, being a self correcting organism in its own right, created entities to quell these biological tyrants. Shimaku, The Death Coil, is one such entity. The grim reaper incarnate, Shimaku embodies the unwavering and imminent severing of the mortal coil. When a life form becomes too powerful for Earth to sustain, it is Shimaku that slays it. Shimaku is pragmatic and logical being that over the eons has cultivated a rather fatalistic view of the world. Existing outside the turbulent throes of time, Shimaku has watched countless generations of life forms thrive and decline; always watching for one that might become a potential hazard. All was made from the earth, and all shall return to it in time, this is a concept that Shimaku experiences quite literally. Shimaku himself is not immune to death and when he is not needed, he returns peacefully into the Earth’s embrace. When a tyrannical life form becomes apparent, Shimaku rises again from the earth and deals out the planet’s judgment; giving no ground and showing no mercy. Taking the form a great serpent, Shimaku’s diamond hard spines and paralytically envenomed fangs have silenced many a monster. Shimaku’s endless battle with the worst aspects of life and untold millennia as its overseer have engrained an unrivaled amount of battle experience that allows him to not only defeat his foes but do so at their own expense. Shimaku knows the weaknesses of almost every variety of living thing and uses his intelligence, incredible speed, and cold lethality to bring the proud to their knees and the strong to heel.

Currently Shimaku has been reawakened by the sudden surge of giant monsters around the world and has been ‘very busy’. The most obvious target of Shimaku’s wrath seems to be mankind as despite the giant behemoths now rampaging across the globe, it is usually the results of human hands that have become the major obstacle to the Earth’s tranquility. Ironically, Shimaku has taken interest in one particular human being by the name of Professor Shinji. Whether it was the rarity of finding a kindred spirit or The Death Coil had wanted a way to further study his prey, the great serpent formed a soul bond with the introverted man. Since then, Professor Shinji has appeared wherever Shimaku has done battle with another monster, doing battle with other soul bonded or K.C.E.L.L.’s as the military has named them. Not even Shinji knows what Shimaku’s real objective is; whether it is the extinction of all mankind or simply culling it down to a manageable level. One thing is for certain, Shimaku is incredibly dangerous and as long as he is active, civilization is on the brink of disaster.
