Bio:
A veteran and experienced Ultra, Ultramaiden Eve is something of an urban legend of among Ultras; rarely seen and seldom heard from. The only evidence that she is still around is the occasional trail of dead monsters that she leaves in her wake when she descends on a planet. Her morbid practice of killing monsters without disintegrating them (and thus removing their presence from the planet entirely) is unnerving to some Ultra as the monster in question is usually pinned up like some kind of trophy kill; still displaying the fatal wounds she inflicted on it. Some monsters have regenerated from this treatment and survived, causing other Ultras to either take the creature down themselves or arrive to find the creature in an even more mutilated state, killing it out of mercy. Eve doesn’t seem to be overly concerned about other sentient life either. While she doesn’t intentional destroy their cities, she doesn’t hesitate to use them as cover while tangling with the various monsters she’s slain. More than one monster has been on the receiving end of a falling building while fighting the emerald warrior. Those few Ultra that have encountered her face to face are often disturbed by the zeal with which she kills monsters and those that have tried to challenge her way of doing things find themselves bewildered by her unorthodox tactics and very real power. She always lets these Ultra’s go however and is willing to temporarily work alongside Ultras that don’t mind her brutally effective monster slaying methods. In general however Eve is very much a loner, keeping to herself and never staying put in any place for long.

Eve’s origins have been embellished and rumor milled to the point that almost no Ultra or sentient race knows the truth concerning the wayward huntress. Ultra Mother is one of the few that do as she encountered the Ultramaiden once and whilst trying to convince her to join the Space Garrison was informed of Eve’s reasons for fighting as she does as explanation for turning down the offer repeatedly. Eve apparently was a once a young Ultra from a small tribe of Ultra dwelling on ‘Eden’. Compared to the ‘Land of Light’, ‘Eden’ is like a massive jungle; teaming with exotic flora and fauna of all kinds. The Ultras there were a neutral branch that focused more on the preservation of the planets they traveled to rather than civilizations that lived on them. The trees of ‘Eden’ were enormous compared to trees on earth and Ultras living on Eden could climb them with great skill and speed. The Ultras of ‘Eden’ differed from their ‘Land of Light’ cousins in other ways as well. Green and yellow were the common colors of the native Ultra and they had golden colored armor more than silver. Said armor was also more organic, taking the forms of various animals and plants native to ‘Eden’. The Ultra of ‘Eden’ are also fairly xenophobic and isolationist, preferring to keep to their own affairs and not taking too lightly to intrusion. The roles on Eden were also reversed as more female Ultras took up the roles of hunter and warrior while the male Ultras dealt with infrastructure and civilian duties. Eve was among the best of the ‘Amazon Battalion’ and was in a close relationship with another Ultra named Ultraman Adam. Tragedy would strike this isolated paradise however in the form of a wicked monster named Platinum Gomola. The brutal beast ravaged ‘Eden’ and despite its great power was also very cunning and elusive, using guerilla warfare to run the Amazon Battalion ragged. One such attack took the life of Ultraman Adam when he tried to save a group of young Ultras from the viscously bloodthirsty demon. Ultramaiden Eve arrived too late to save him and in a blind rage managed to severely wound Platinum Gomola despite him over powering her many times over the course of their short and desperate battle. The monster was horrified that he had been injured so badly and fled into the depths of space, a deep scar over his left breast; leaving Eve to grieve over Adam’s comatose form. Having a personal vendetta against the malicious monster that had taken the greatest light in her world away from her, Eve practically stiff armed the counsel into allowing her to be the one to hunt Platinum Gomola as the rest of the Amazon Battalion was desperately needed to guard a weakened ‘Eden’. Eve spent the next several hundred years hunting the elusive and cunning monster across the universe, taking out her anger on any other monster that got in her way. She tried to save the various sentient races caught up the cross-fire at first, even making sure to obliterate the monsters outright as per usual to ensure they wouldn’t disturb the planet again. One such excursion changed her perspective on this as several times in a row, the sentient race in question attacked her just as much as the monster she was fighting. The first time she let it go, understanding that it was undoubtedly terror inducing to see two giants fighting near your city. The second time she was horribly injured when the sentient beings released an extremely powerful bomb, nearly killing her and the monster at the same time. The third time she simply watched as the monster demolished their city and finally killed the creature once she was fully recovered. It was during this time that Eve learned to harness ‘Mana’ or the ambient energy of the planet she was fighting on. The dismal weather and incredible levels of pollution made it extremely difficult to fight effectively on that planet using just light energy and thus she was forced to dig deeper to find an alternative energy source so she could last longer than just a single minute against her rather obnoxious yet just as wounded foe. She knew instinctively how to do so on ‘Eden’ as the massive trees provided plenty of Mana from which to draw from. Here however the trees were much, much smaller and thus she could only harness enough for 3-5 minutes depending on the terrain and the planet itself. This also puts a strain on the planet so she is loath to do so for very long; taking only what she has to. She developed many elaborate and painful ways to kill monsters and consolidate energy as she traveled from one planet to the next, tracking Platinum Gomola who to the monster’s credit, always seemed to be one step ahead of her.

Upon hearing the Ultramaiden’s story, Ultra Mother finally relented and asked only that she be reasonable when dealing with other Ultras and to be open to aid should she need it. Eve mulled it over for a few seconds and agreed, providing that the ‘Land of Light’ not impede her quest that she was personally obligated and duty bound to complete. To this day, Ultramaiden Eve wanders the cosmos, hunting down her nemesis and leaving the various lackeys he puts in her way as grim warnings to those that would stop her from claiming Platinum Gomola’s head.

Abilities:

Mana Charge: One of Eve’s most important abilities, she gathers energy from the ambient energy of the planet instead of the sun. This can come in a variety of forms and from a variety of sources and allows her to fight for three to five minutes on any given planet. She will not go over this limit as it can cause damage to the planet she’s fighting on if the Mana Charge is used for too long. She prefers to fight in forested areas and must spend some time accumulating herself to a different terrain to draw on its Mana.

Element Surge: A type of beam that is fired from her shin when she raises it into the ‘crane position’. The effect of the beam differs depending on what terrain she’s fighting on. It can range from electrical in cities to fire if the area is volcanic. Forested areas produce an effect similar to the Specium Ray and watery areas produce a hyper pressurized torrent. Frozen areas create a freezing surge etc.

Ultra Spiral: Condensing energy from her upper body into her right or left legs, Eve can release a whirling beam of kinetic energy that can stun at long range and blow a hole through or severely injure a target at close range.

Ultra Double Spiral: Same as above except she must make a drop kick in the air and it launches two of the spiral beams at once. Eve likes using this for particularly stubborn monsters that like to get in her face. She usually aims for the chest or the head if she’s feeling particularly angry.

Edenian Reflexes: Life on ‘Eden’ makes the Ultras there much more agile and nimble than most other Ultras due to a life tree climbing, branch leaping and general Tarzan level theatrics. While she doesn’t have many opportunities to show off the full extent of this skill, Eve can flip over and evade attacks that would catch even the usually super agile Ultra off guard.

Camouflage: Eve doesn’t buy into the whole ‘honorable combat’ shtick when it comes to fighting monsters. Warping the light around her, Eve can make herself invisible as long as she doesn’t attack. The effect vanishes as soon as she uses the energy necessary for most Ultra attacks thus she becomes visible again as soon as she makes her move. This ability is marginally draining and thus she is able to use it at least 5 to 6 times per fight. Eve uses it to get the drop on kaiju and end the fight quickly if she can or setup a sneak attack at the right moment.

Dynamic Size Change: Eve uses this to shrink down to human size in order to keep from taking up tons of light energy or Mana. She can stay in this form indefinitely if she wishes to and it also makes it easier to hide from the various civilizations and kaiju that inhabit the planets she visits. She’s also frequently used this to go incognito and spy on monster and civilian movements. It’s become more and more necessary as Platinum Gomola has begun using the various civilizations he comes across to keep an eye out for her and use the various populations against her so he can escape or throw something big, nasty and heavy in her way in hopes of killing her.

Ultra Vision: Being a rather stealthy fighter herself, Eve can use this ability to see monsters and other creatures that try to conceal themselves via electromagnetic waves or light manipulation. She can also use this to ‘zoom in’ on a target far away like a sniper scope, being able to see a target with great detail for literally miles away. This comes in handy for most of her ranged attacks and allows her to see in non energy based darkness.

Scatter Shot: Eve can fire energy beams from the orbs on her head, knees and shoulders. She can fire the beams interchangeable, all at once, or several at a time in succession. Eve uses this as medium range attack or to intercept projectiles. It’s also useful for surprising monsters and getting breathing space.

Hand to Hand combat: Eve uses an Ultra fighting style that seems to be a blend of Shaolin Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kick Boxing. She is capable of causing immense damage at nearly all distances through various kicks, holds, joint locks and pin point strikes. Fighting kaiju for as long as she has, Eve is very knowledgeable about where to do inflict the most pain on a giant monster and does so to end the fight quickly so she can conserve energy and continue chasing Platinum Gomola. This often leaves her victims as warped and mutilated wrecks rather than disintegrated bits of ash as is the Ultra custom. If a monster somehow survives and comes after Eve again, she makes the extra effort to blow them to kingdom come as both insurance to prevent the monster from getting the way again and a sign of respect to the monster’s endurance and tenacity.

Ultra Darts: Eve can fire short arrow heads of energy by crossing her arms in an ‘x’ shape over her chest. This attack isn’t nearly as strong as some of her others but it’s useful for cover fire and backing a monster into a trap or exploitable position as it fires so quickly and repeatedly. While they probably won’t kill a monster, they are annoying and sting like hell.

Amazon Spear: A traditional finishing move of the Amazon Battalion, Eve materializes a javelin made of energy and either impales or hurls the javelin at her foe, usually burning a hole straight through them and causing them to explode. This move is rather costly energy wise and thus she is not keen on using it unless she has to or wants to insure a monster’s death. Sometimes Eve will downsize the energy output of the attack so she can throw it multiple times or stake her opponents to the ground instead of skewering them outright.

Mana Serpent: Drawing on the various elements, Eve can generate twin coils of entangling energy from her forearms by holding them in the ‘L’ shape and parallel with her thumbs facing each other. Eve uses this move to catch speedy monsters and detain others. While the coils can be broken, Eve generally doesn’t wait that long and will swing, whip and toss monsters with the coils as soon as she gets a hold of them. She also likes to strangle them with it.

Mana Net: Developed for when she had to fight the various flying monsters on her journey, Eve forms an build of energy in her hands while forming an ‘x’ over her head and pulling her hands to the side, creates a sizable net made of energy. This net is more durable than the coils created during Mana Serpent overall though the individual segments are weaker. She can pull down and beat the crap out of kaiju with this technique though they still have to either fly into it or get it thrown over them.

Eden’s Judgment: This is a special technique that Eve has been saving for her fateful rematch with Platinum Gomola and her most powerful. It drains her of almost all her energy and she doesn’t want Platinum Gomola getting wind of it until she can finally get her hands on him so she never uses this technique in anything less than a life or death situation and she’d prefer retreat over that. The technique involves gathering an immense amount of Mana in her hands as she swings them in alternating circles. When the buildup reaches its zenith, Eve fires a massive blast that is so powerful it can vaporize mountains and blast a kaiju into space, obliterating them often beforehand.

Ultra Backhand: Jokingly referred to as the ‘Ultra Bitch Slap’, Eve uses this one to deal with overbearing and stupidly macho Ultramen that try and get her to join the Space Garrison or stop her from fighting kaiju in a city or fighting a kaiju period. It has the power of 600 African Elephants and is generally the only warning before Eve beats the living shit out an Ultra. Those that have been given the attack before visibly cringe when she so much as raises her hand, this causes much hilarity when she’s stuck in an uncomfortably more domestic setting.

Weaknesses
The Maple Leaf Counter: ‘Eden’ Ultra had color timers of all different sorts and Eve’s is shaped like a glowing green teardrop inside of a golden maple leaf. If she is getting low on energy, it will start to faintly glow green before sputtering out completely if she doesn’t absorb more Mana or return to human size. Like all Ultra, if Eve runs out of energy she goes comatose until she is either revived or dies. If it is damaged, it will slowly kill her until it is healed.

No human host: Eve does not trust other sentient beings and only tolerates other Ultra not from her home planet. Thus she cannot hide so easily amongst the population as other Ultras have done by possessing a human host or some other sentient race. It is possible that she may one day open up to the idea if exposed to the ‘goodness in humanity’. If that were the case her transformation item would probably be an arrow shaped item called the ‘Virgo Stinger’. For now, Eve does not and probably will never outside of excruciating circumstances dwell in a human being. She prefers the alleys and deep woods anyway.

Okay, so this is my entry for Matt Frank's create an Ultraman contest. After seeing half-a-dozen of the various entries I decided to make mine a chick as planned and something that hasn't been touched on really, a neutral Ultra. Theres a amazon/green ranger/ultra among us theme going on with this one. I did add one major connection point to the main series and added an entirely new section of the Ultra universe in the process. The Mana Charge idea might be screwing with the rules a bit but it all evens out in the end I think. Design wise I can't help bu think that anatomy is wonky somehow, being alien be damned. She's in a different pose than I wanted her to be in as I realized that people's torsoes don't bend that way without snapping in half lol. Sorry if you can't see the all important color timer. You get a side shot because thats what I was working with. I decided on a full illustration for this contest, makes me feel better about entering it I guess.

For the sake levity and in case you're wondering, that is indeed Matt Frank's take of G. Rex getting stepped on and looking drop dead beat to hell. I would have used a Baltan but those guys are generally end game kind of people. I have no idea what G. Rex really is or what he looked like before Matt redesigned him. I googled him and could only find some weird cutout model of him in chibi box form...or at least I thought it was him. I mean no offense to the poor guy either way. It's just Eve is that F'ing brutal guys.

Well, I'll see what comes of this come September. Consider this my first ever Ultraman fanart lol.
